We all seem to think of people all the time, what they will think of us if we do this, what will people say if we do that... sometimes unconsciously, we do what people will seem to like seeing us do. but again, people do not agree.
One day, I remember I was determined to do whatever pleases all those around me regardless what I am doing actaully makes me happy or not. I followed this way for around a month. Outcome of all this was nothing but feeling of depression. I actually felt It was not me acting. that was someone else.
What really amazed me recongnizing and watching people, friends, colleagues around me is their intensive interest in what people would think of them. A very simple example of our egyptian daily life some words like
- Do you think people would like my dress?
- How would my friends and colleagues respond to my new style
- Even the simplest things, we can not overcome People!!
I am not really sure if am right or wrong on this issue. but as far as it is related to me, I always follow my guts, mind and religion in what's right and what's wrong. I do not care about what people would say too much as some people just like to criticize for the sake of it and others do not like the person
Just like Tom Blandi said" Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force
This definitely doesn't mean that we ignore people; we just need to identify those whom we consider friends to trust. What Do you think Friends!!!!!!

This is really amazing. I remember I passed through a depression period of time when I used to hear people telling me "Oh Marianne you changed a lot"
And I was like "Og God, do they mean I changed for better or worse"
Also my school days were like hell to me, I really cared a lot of how do people see me personal wise and physical wise.
As you mentioned, we will never satisfy them and I remembered the story of Goha and his son, when Goha was riding the donkey people said "what a cruel man, he is riding the donkey and his poor son is walking" so he got off and made his son ride the donkey so people said "He is a bad father he did not teach his son manners" so the two of them ride the donkey and people said "What a cruel people, they are all riding the poor donkey". You know what Goha did after that? He and his son carried the donkey.
Funny but true, you will never satisfy people.
And I like the closure you did that this doesn't mean we never listen to people ... Like Jad Shwaery's song "ana ha3mel yalla be rasi" Lol
No we listen to HONEST people who reall CARE.
what i think is, as long as i am not doing anything 7aram, and therefore not harming anyone else- i am free to do what i want and think the way i want.
it doesnt please many ppl arround, but at the dead end, its my life. none will be 100% involved in it but myself- fa, i am the only one netitled to decide about it bardo.
again, the bottom line is religion, any religion.
forget about tradition and ppl arround as long as none else is getting hurt. of course i would consider my parents. but when it takes a strong NO, it always appears.
and believe me, true friends will stand by ur side, no matters how crazy u might appear.
